This Year Steamboat Springs celebrated it�s Centennial Annual Winter Carnival. With the advent of Lighted Man on the Howelsen Hill in 1936 . performed first by Claudius and now by John Banks the Steamboat Winter Carnival created one of the most spectacular light shows ever performed anywhere since 1939. With 75 pounds of explosives strapped to his back John blows off Roman Candles appearing from the top of his head as he traverses a steep slope performing the Snake Dance with the young skiers of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, and Steamboats Professional Ski Patrol jumping through flaming hoops carrying flares and flaming toboggans over a 50 meter ski jump while nearby nearly simultaneously a huge fireworks display is being...
I am semi retired at this time .My Dad gave me my first camera, a brownie, at the age of 7 in 1953 after applying my talents with crayons on the walls of my hallway and creating fantastic sculptures in a sand box starting at the age of 3 as I recall. I loved life as an artist, but teachers disagreed to my chagrin. So I ended up spending much of my life as an engineer in different trades and practices. Today I apply most of my efforts towards photography and photoshop making pictures, and placing them in a variety of galleries in my web sites offering prints and home product for all to enjoy viewing at no cost. Thanks for the comments all. There is a long story that goes with the creation of this. Suffice it to say, after studying right brained creativity with Karen Schulman in a six week course on Letting Go of the Camera I came up with this after Winter Carnival. It was FUN.
