Artist's Description
From Wikipedia-The Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad (SR&RL) was a narrow gauge common carrier railroad that operated approximately 112 miles (180 km) of 2 ft (610 mm) gauge railroad in Franklin County, Maine.
As part of the New England transportation monopoly organized by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad, the SR&RL operated as a subsidiary of the Maine Central Railroad from 1912 until receivership in 1923.[4] Maine Central built 37 box cars, 37 flat cars, 3 cabooses and a baggage-RPO car in their Portland Terminal Company shops for the SR&RL between 1912 and 1917.[5] SR&RL locomotives 15, 16, 17 and 18 were reboilered in the Maine Central Waterville shops during the same period, and a 4-mile (6.4 km) freight branch was built from Perham Junction to Barnjum.
No 4 is a replica locomotive manufactured by Wesley Spear to help resurrect a portion of the SR&RL railroad now located near Phillips, Maine. Searching google there is sign...
About Daniel Hebard
I am semi retired at this time .My Dad gave me my first camera, a brownie, at the age of 7 in 1953 after applying my talents with crayons on the walls of my hallway and creating fantastic sculptures in a sand box starting at the age of 3 as I recall. I loved life as an artist, but teachers disagreed to my chagrin. So I ended up spending much of my life as an engineer in different trades and practices. Today I apply most of my efforts towards photography and photoshop making pictures, and placing them in a variety of galleries in my web sites offering prints and home product for all to enjoy viewing at no cost.
