Description
Vietnam Memorial
The statue of Three Soldiers beholding the black granite walls of the Vietnam Memorial provide a poignant image for those visiting this hollowed site honoring over 50,000 American lives that fell serving the United States in Vietnam
Having served first as an drafted enlisted man and then as a young field artillery lieutenant from 1966 to 1969 I knew too many on this wall. There but for the grace of god...I can find no other words to describe my feelings. It took a long time to visit this place in 2009 to make my original photographs, but doing so helped bring closure for me.
The original of this image, https://fineartamerica.com/featured/vietnam-war-memorial-statue-daniel-hebard.html, still located on Fine Art America has been viewed more than any other picture in my art portfolio. It is nice but I have always felt it was not finished as an art piece. And so it is I returned again to honor friends not forgotten. I generated a second image seeking closure to what was I considered unfinished seen here, https://fineartamerica.com/featured/vietnam-war-memorial-guardians-daniel-hebard.html?viewall=true , yet the original is by far more popular to most people.
To allow more versatility in use of this image I have cropped the original image and applied a gausian blur to the backround to accent the statue. I hope you enjoy this memorial day version, Vietnam War Three Soldier Memorial.
