Grand Canyon Morning
Guided by Hopi Indians a Spanish expeditionary force led by Garcia Lopez Cardenas, in 1540, searched for the �Great River� legendary to the Hopi Mesas. They emerged from the forest after a 20 days hike with the Hopis during Francisco Vasquez Coronado�s six month exploration to find this great chasm. They were the first Europeans to see the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Although they spent three days along Canyon rim searching they were unable to find a way to reach the river.
