Captured high in a tree at the Owens Aviary of San Diego Zoo the back round of this image was enhanced with a gausian blur and vignette to help bring out contrast and color. The small flock in San Diego is part of a recover program designed to bring this species back from the brink of extinction in Indonesia.
Wikipedia offers the following description:
The Bali myna is critically endangered, and the wild population has been close to extinction since at least 1994. As of 2015, less than 100 adults are assumed to exist in the wild, with about 1,000 believed to survive in captivity. The Bali myna is listed in Appendix I of CITES. Trade even in captive-bred specimens is strictly regulated and the species is not generally available legally to private individuals.
