Description
Version 2 -The legend of Kokopelli transcends the ages from the time of the Aztec and the Freemont culture of the Western US to the Hopis and Navajo in the South West today. Petroglyphs of their images while most prominent in the South West have been found as far North as Alberta Canada, East past the great river, West to California and South to South Central America. I first became interested studying them in some of the petroglyphs of Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. After visiting a Navajo museum in Tuba City my wife and I decided to travel south easterly on a recent trip through Hopi land on an indirect route to Tuscon. As we descended from the third mesa to the second on our meandering route we found this pair of peaks which exemplified the predominant spirit of the meaning of Kokopelli. I could not help think that the Hopi had placed the road in front of these peaks deliberately to present the traveler with the best view of these two beautiful nipple shaped peaks. Not being in any particular hurry we stopped at several viewing locations to photograph the scenery as cumulus clouds started to form over the high desert in a north easterly flow where I made a series of images after lunch. I studied one image for about two years thinking I would process it one day to delight an audience of viewers. I am not sure what you think of it but the adult type of picture created but I can tell you I did not alter it as much as most think when they see it. I wanted to maintain the mystic of the spirit of Kokopelli. I hope you enjoy watching this.

Breathtaking beauty, Daniel. You've captured one of the phenomena that fascinates me about Hawaii ... the feeling that the sky is Right There ... only just out of reach!!!! f/v
