Description
Touch Down- A pleasure to watch and listen the Greater Sandhill Cranes have returned to the meadows of the Sleeping Giant and the Elk River Valley. Thanks to their classification as an endangered species in the 30s by the 60s or 70s the population of Sandhill Cranes has swelled substantially. We are fortunate in the Yampa Valley to have seen this resurgence. The number of mating pairs raring young has grown exponentially. They are one of the largest birds in the world. Although shy they are often photographed at a distance by the trained bird watcher, and patient photographer
