Description
Hanging around the cliffs at La Jolla there is a huge Brandt Cormorant rookery.
When visiting our children and grandchildren it is always fun to spend a day in La Jolla at the Surf and Wild Life reserve located near the center of La Jolla. Its as good as the Zoo, Wild Life Park, and Scripts Aquarium and there is no admission fee. Spending the day there and picnicking in the park there is a lot of wild life to photo and observe.
The dynamics of the tide present ever changing photo ops for all visitors, and I always make one or two memorable pictures that end up in one gallery or another. It is always fun revisiting favorite photograph locations. You may wish to be able to see the same thing as you saw before, but it never happens. Every visit brings a new group of pictures in a new environment, and usually a new setting even when you go back to the exact back you visited before.
Some photographers and artists try to replicate works of their masters, because they admire the work so much. They never succeed, and they are not doing themselves any good trying. It is always best to absorb what one sees, select the desired settings and let oneself flow out of the camera into the scene. Then start the picture making process by pressing the button. Try it. I never cease amazing myself when I do this.
