American Flamingo, Flamingo, bird, Orange/Pink, White, Black, Family - Phoenopteridae, Species -Phoencopterud ruber, Length- 4 to 4 1/2 feet, Wingspan- 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 feet, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, San Diego, California.
There are five species of flamingos in the world. San Diego Zoo has a flock of breeding flamingos with baby chicks at various stages of growth. I was recently able to photograph a variety of different poses containing birds of different ages. The American Flamingo display different colors depending on their diet.
